Uncompahgre Plateau, West-Central Colorado. Here's the terrain, access, and license picture, plus how to hunt it under pressure.
A long flat-top plateau cut by steep, remote canyons. Lower slopes carry sage and pinyon-juniper rising into oak brush, aspen and mixed timber on top.
Good road access along the top of the plateau, but many roads turn impassable when wet, and ATV traffic can be significant on the accessible benches.
Use the road network to cover country fast early, then drop off the rim into the steep canyon heads where pressured elk retreat, watching the weather closely.
ScoutIQ forecasts daily elk movement inside your unit, with a confidence score on every call.
