The country

Lower Yampa country is mostly sagebrush and shrub, with open, prairie-like benches and draws across the low ground rising into oak brush and scattered aspen toward the Flat Tops. Cover is thin down low and thickens as you gain elevation to the south.

Access and pressure

Public and private ground sit close to an even split in a checkerboard, so legal access is the first problem to solve. Expect pressure to concentrate on the reachable public parcels near roads.
